After over 2 weeks of searching and interviewing and re-interviewing and worrying about finding the "right" one, we found our nanny. So I spent all day typing an agreement which spells out all her responsibilities, rights and duties, and her and her husband came over last night to sign it.
Before I can get into explaining and going through this 9 page document, her husband pipes up and says, "I guess we should tell you what we found out today", and she says, "OH yeah, I'm pregnant".
BOOM!!!!
We were shocked. During the interview process she asked if it would be ok if sometime in the future she got pregnant. We said sure, because in the furture the kids would be that much older and she would be all in a schedule and everything would be fine. But now, she is going to be pregnant, have morning sickness and then be all big and tired and still have to take care of little kids. I DON'T THINK SO!
She will not have bonded with us and the kids enough to have any loyalty and the first time she thinks her or her newborn (if it lasted that long) is in jeopardy she would be gone. Then where would we be?
I am just so disgusted, it turns out this whole time she has been interviewing she has known that she "could" be pregnant, since she missed her period THREE WEEKS AGO.
So, now I am almost starting over. I have a couple of people that I had already inteviewed and they didn't make the original cut, but now they aren't looking so bad. One is coming over tonight and the other I am going to call for Tuesday night.
I have to find somebody soon, I already gave notice at daycare.

That must have been hard after being excited that everything was taken care of to have to "start over again" I bet that just means you will find another person that is an even better fit!
Oh I'm so sorry that all of this is happening. I know you have been working hard at finding the best for the boys. I am hoping that the choices and all of the searching goes easy this time and that it will happen soon. Thanks for posting to let us know what was going on.
Are any of the Nannys under consideration older women?
If it is all young women, things can change in life quickly. They move, get bored, get married, get divorced, get a job, go back to school, meet someone else...etc.
Unfortunately, in home day care...the prognosis for longevity isn't very good I am sorry to say.
