Dinner with good friends

Myles, Julie and Joaquin (in order left to right)

Last night one of my best friends and his family came to our house for dinner.

Joaquin and I have been friends since 7th grade when he was friends with someone I had a crush on so my best friend and I became friends with them. Sounds like 7th grade huh? Well, the four of us all became really good friends into high school and now beyond.

Although Joaquin and I were kind of the least friends, in fact we really got on each others nerves, when the other two of our group left during high school we stayed together and became even better friends. We sat together at graduation and tried to watch out for eachother during Senior year when the last thing you want to do is be at school and finish. We both went our separate ways after high school and only spoke a hand full of times in the past few years. He went into the Air Force and we went to his going away party but didn't really have any contact after that until the internet brought us back together. During a search of classmates.com one night I found Joaquin and learned he had a little boy. I was so happy for him yet so sad that I didn't even know.

I immediately emailed him and got a quick response. Turns out he is stationed in Japan and has been for a while now. We talked a lot via email and keep in contact through eachothers internet sites (HI Joaquin).

Anyway, long story short Joaquin his wife Julie and their son Myles came back home for a couple of weeks and we were able to get together. It felt so great to be with him and to see Myles play with Ean. I was so sad to have to hug him goodbye and know we wouldn't be able to see eachother in person for a long time.

It is so nice to be around old friends. They are a part of you, a part of an old life and part of what makes you the person you are today. I am so blessed to have Joaquin in my life again and I can't wait until we can be closer in geography so we can be closer friends again.

Wow that is so awesome. I got the emotional feeling while reading that. That's so rad the they are doing good. Too bad there aren't any pictures of Ean and their kid playing.

WOW...your post sent me down memory lane with all FOUR of you, like the FOUR MUSKETEERS...where you would see one...there would be FOUR.

One cute thought was how many times (before cars) you guys would walk to somewhere together...especially downtown to get an ice cream at The 'Alpine' Station and before that it was called "Sambo's".

Seeing Joaquin on your Blog with his family was a kick! You will have to tell me all about his Air Force Experiences...and about living in Japan when you come up!

...and I do remember you and Joaquin 'sniping' at each other here and there too...lol

I remember how much you would appreciate it when I would grind on you to just get the same grades as Scotty, Laura and Joaquin did.

I am so glad to hear he has a son, and his wife looks very nice too...sort of has the 'Laura' look in that picture. The well scrubbed look...natural beauty.

HI JOAQUIN - God Bless you and yours, and I am always wishing you every good thing! I hope that I can see you again 'in person' too.

I always enjoyed your company, and your brains. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year too!

Hugs, Mammie
