Good bye to Grandma!

We said good bye to my mom yesterday as she headed home to Oregon after visiting us for the last week.

I have forgotten how much I miss having her around. My mom and my sister moved up to Oregon right after Ean was born and it is sad for me that they don't get to see him (now them) grow up. My mom stayed with us at our new house so that was nice since she has never stayed with us before.

We are a lot different now than we ever have been since we have two babies and a household to run. We used to be footloose and fancy free, as my mom would say, and would go out to eat a lot and stay up late etc., all the things that my mom likes to do and now we don't. The things we used to tease my sister for doing, like retiring to the bedroom to bath and get Ean ready for bed while guests are still there and clean up the whole kitchen before everyone is done eating are things we are doing now. I think her and Jim got the mother-in-law/ son-in-law syndrome since they don't spend as much time with eachother as they used to, but other than that everything went good.

Her plan was to come down before Ben arrived to help get the house in order and then be here for the birth and help at the office after he was born. Since Ben came before we thought he would she missed the before and during and only got the after part. And, since I am such a control freak I didn't really have anything for her to do at the office because I wanted to handle it all.

She help us most by visiting and holding Ben when we were tired or making dinner or whatever other million things we are doing all the time. Ean seemed to really take to her and they played quite a bit.

Although I am used to her not living here and we have developed a totally different life than we used to live when she was around I am really sad to see her leave. The only thing that helps is knowing we will be there for Christmas and this will be the first time in three years we will all be together for Christmas.

My mom and Ean right before she left. (Ean was ready for a nap and didn't want to pose for a picture)
