I was totally not expecting this baby to be ontime little lone early.
BUT....
Saturday night I wanted a nice big dinner (mistake) so instead of having to take his pregnant wife and 18mth old son OUT to dinner Jim went shopping and home made me the best dinner I have had in months. While he cooked I got Ean ready for bed and as soon as it was done I put Ean to bed and we ate about 8pm. I ate IT ALL, I was stuffed and happy, until about 9pm.
I started having what I now KNOW were contractions but at first I thought maybe I was just reacting to the wonderful dinner I had just had, especially since we were not ready for Mr. Ben to arrive. By 10pm we went to bed and OF COURSE neither of us slept.
The contractions were SO HARD that by 11pm Jim was calling his sister to make sure someone would be available to come watch Ean if we had to go to the hospital. I still wasn't convinced it was time. About every half and hour Jim would remind me how far about each contraction had been and suggested we go to the hospital. I kept insisting that we wait, reminding him that I DID NOT want to be sent home for being in false labor OR have to spend too much time in the hospital in labor.
Finally at 1:30am after having let all of my wonderful dinner go down the toilet and realizing that I am really in labor I told him I was getting in the shower and to call my step mom to come watch Ean. We were getting ready to walk out the door to get in the car and as I did with Ean I had to run to the bathroom and throw up, which finally convinced me that we were having a baby.
We got into the hospital admittance room at 2:30am, when she check me I was 3cm dilated. Needless to say I was a little pissed. With the amount of pain I was in I was disappointed that I had so far to go (or so I thought). We were admitted and taken to the labor, delivery, recovery room I think about 3 or 3:30am. I had already requested an epideral and I think I finally got it about 4:30am. At that time I was 6-7cm, which made me pretty happy. I remember remarking to the nurse that she gets off at 6am and wondered if I would have the baby by then still not believing I would. At 5am, I still was feeling contractions and this "wonderful epideral" everybody always told me about was not doing ANYTHING. I started feeling tremendous pressure and the doctor wasn't there yet. She checked me and I was just about 10cm.
At 5:10am the nurse got me "into position" and told me that when the next contraction came I could push a little bit, since my water hadn't broke yet. I did and it did then and she immediately told me to stop.
Very calmly asked one of the assistants in the room at the time to "please let the doctor know we are ready in here" and by the time he got his booties and gown on there was not turning back.
Let me back track a minute or two and tell you since I didn't really push too much with ean because he had to be suctioned out I asked the nurse what I should expect in pushing time. In a round about way she told me that it would be at least a half an hour and could be up to 2 hours.
So the doctor tells me I am ok to push. So I start and IT HURTS LIKE HELL!! I am not giving it my all since I think I have at least a half an hour to go, when all of a sudden Jim says " he has black hair", then I remember thinking to myself, if he can see the hair I am almost done, so I give two more good pushes and he is out.
I didn't have any complications and the labor was only 8 hours but I am glad this was my second and final because the pain was MUCH WORSE than with Ean.
Benjamin is so much smaller than Ean (1lb and 5 oz) that we are getting used to that but other than that we are fine. So far he is a good baby and even right now he is just sitting in his seat sleeping.
Our DSL at home is still out but we will be trying to get some more pics posted and I can't wait to get back on here everyday to give everyone the latest.
BTW- for the record--- Pregnancy- 39weeks and 6days, Labor and Delivery- 8hours, Back to "work"- 3 days.

Thanks for the update on the blog. I can't beleive you've already posted. You look wonderful in all of your pictures. Benjamin is handsome too. (As I knew he would be since big brother Ean, Tommy and Greg are all handsome guys)
What a cutie! Hopefully Colby, Ean and Ben and Lucas can hang out together one day! IT will be neat to watch Ben growing on your blog since him and Lucas are so close in age! I thought the same as Lisa... that you look amazing in all your pictures!
