I am not sure if it a GOOD sign or a BAD sign that Ean's little brother is starting his arrival earlier than he did. The day I went into labor with Ean I had not dialated AT ALL.
We went to the doctor today and I am 1 cm. dialated. I am glad that the contractions I have been wincing about are not for nothing. The doctor says he is still real high though. Everything else is fine, here is the run down for today's appointment which is similar to every appointment:
They call me/us back.
Nurse, "Now lets get on the scale here"
Me, (squinting my eyes as though I am scared) "Oh cool, only 1pound" (figuring in my head 11 pounds overall)
Nurse, "Now lets get a urine sample and we will meet you in the last room to the right"
Me, (into the bathroom to do my balancing act while trying to keep my hands and the cup dry and still get at least a couple drops in the cup, put the cup in the little cubby on the wall wash my hands and head to the room)
Nurse, " Let's take your blood pressure, looks good 112/60"
Me, "Oh that is good"
Nurse, "Ok, undress from the waist down and put this (way too small) drape over you and the doctor will be in shortly"
Doctor, "Hello how are you feeling?"
Me, "Crappy, tired or DONE" (one of those is my typical response whenever I am asked how I feel)
Doctor, "Everything ok, the baby moving around plenty?"
Me, "yep"
Doctor, "looks like your urine is good, your blood pressure is good and your weight gain is perfect"
Doctor, "Ok lay back and we will check the heart beat." (I lay back and she pulls out her tape measure and measures my tummy, then pokes around on my stomach and says, "head is down, that's good" then she listens to the heart beat "136 bpm, good") " Now lets check to see if you are dialated"
Me, (thinking, oh now the fun begins)
Doctor, " Ok, sorry I have to push in a little farther, ok, looks like you are 1cm, good, a little head start."
Me, "oh good"
Doctor, "Ok, anything else any questions"
Me and Jim, "nope"
Doctor, "ok then, see you next week"
Me, "ok"
So when you ask me what happened at the doctor today or how did it go, now you know. Everyhting is fine and going along as planned.
