When Jim was home sick, one morning our dog was barking a lot and when I went out to investigate I found that the dog had gotten a litter of kittens that had been left in the back yard, all of them died but he found Larry in the wood pile not yet touched by the dog. She was what we guess about ten days old, eyes were just opened. Since Jim was home he took care of her the most. We had to bottle feed her and wipe her butt with a warm wash rag for her to go to the bathroom and like any baby she needed constant attention. At the time Jim could barely take care of himself but he took care of this helpless kitten.
Her name is Larry and where that name came from I have no idea. She is a girl but, since she was so little when we got her we didn't know WHAT she was until after she was named. She is rarely called by her name now though, it is usually one of the names in the title.
Anyway, she has grown up to be a big 'ol CAT but she is still Jim's baby. He has the silliest rituals with her and cares for her more than I would have ever imagined. One of his rituals is every night when he goes to bed he grabs her up (usually unwillingly on Larry's part) and takes her to bed and cuddles her until she has had enough, usually that is when she starts to try to REALLY hurt him. He will also throw anybody out of the way to get to her if he thinks she is in danger- literally, me, Ean, Tom- ANYBODY. He ALWAYS finds her and says "hi" to her when he gets home, and she eats any table scraps she wants from our plates.
Since she has been terrorized so much, she doesn't tolerate ANYBODY other than Jim and I and now Ean. Others that know Larry were worried that she would be mean to Ean, but she is more patient with him than she is even with Jim, I am even surprised about that.
Anyway, I know a lot of people don't really care about other peoples pets, but this story usually causes a couple laughs and I know that Jim will like seeing his "Little Little Lear" on the BLOG.

Sounds a little bit like Ted and Smokeys weird relationship. Hmmm I wonder if cat weirdness runs in the family.
